The Paragons
Status:
Active and internationally operational, but under heavy scrutiny and controversy.
Leader(s):
The leadership of the Paragons is fluid and decentralized, with branch leaders operating semi-independently across various regions. Historically, the original Paragon team was led by Aegis, a nigh-invulnerable hero whose retirement marked the transition to the current organizational structure. Each branch now selects its own leader based on merit, power, and strategic acumen.
Base of Operations:
The original base of operations is located in New York City, USA. However, regional headquarters exist in key locations worldwide, including London, Tokyo, Cairo, and São Paulo. These bases are fortified hubs equipped to respond to crises within their respective regions.
Alignment:
Heroic (with divisions that lean towards varying interpretations of justice, resulting in public controversy).
Purpose:
The Paragons exist to protect humanity from all forms of existential threats—superhuman, magical, technological, and cosmic. Their mission is to safeguard lives and maintain peace, often at great personal and organizational cost.
Description:
The Paragons were formed during the Age of Heroes, initially as a small coalition of extraordinary individuals in the United States. Over time, they grew into an international organization dedicated to addressing threats too large for any one hero or nation to face alone. Their victories against villains, rogue superhumans, and cosmic entities have cemented their legacy, but their autonomy and power have drawn criticism.
Despite their successes, the Paragons are polarizing figures. Governments see them as unaccountable vigilantes, while some activist groups accuse them of collateral damage and political overreach. The rise of imitators and false flag attacks has further muddied their reputation, leaving the world divided on whether the Paragons are heroes or liabilities.
Membership:
The Paragons' membership includes a mix of superhumans, magic users, and even celestial entities.
Dead Cold (Active): One of the original founding members. He is a frost zombie.
Aegis (Retired): The original leader and symbol of resilience.
Solaris (Deceased): A solar-powered hero who generates light and heat to combat darkness.
Mistvei (Presumed Deceased)l: A sorcerer specializing in magical containment and countermeasures.
Ironstriker (Brain Dead): A tech-enhanced strategist with cutting-edge armor.
Starling (Retired): A speedster who coordinates global communications.
New recruits are rigorously vetted and come from a variety of backgrounds, reflecting the diversity of the regions they protect.
Resources:
The Paragons have access to:
Advanced Technology: Including AI systems, high-speed transport, and nanotech medical facilities.
Magical Artifacts: Collected during battles and/or given to them by Pentagram Corp. in order to deal with mystical threats.
Global Communication Networks: Allowing instant coordination between branches.
Celestial Alliances: Partnerships with Divinus Entia who occasionally lend their power.
Allies and Rivals:
Allies:
Governments and militaries (though this is often tenuous).
Other heroic organizations, such as smaller, unaffiliated hero teams.
Magic-focused groups like Pentagram Corp, though trust is conditional.
Rivals/Enemies:
Rogue superhuman factions and villain organizations.
Hacker collectives intent on exposing their secrets.
False imitators and those performing false flag operations to discredit them.
Divinus Entia who see humanity as beneath their protection.
Trivia:
The Paragons' name was inspired by a quote from their founder, Aegis: “To protect the world, we must be paragons of virtue—even when the world doubts us.”
Their international headquarters in New York City contains a Hall of Fallen Heroes, honoring those who sacrificed their lives in service.
Each branch has its own unique cultural identity, reflecting the heroes and traditions of the region it serves.
Despite public scrutiny, they have consistently ranked as the most trusted hero group in global polls for the past decade.
